I knew of Famous Cosmetics (by Sue Moxley) for some time and, like most of the fb Beauty Brands, I follow them (and Sue) on Twitter.
Sue regularly does giveaways on her Twitter Page, when all you have to do is retweet her and she picks a winner. Well I had retweeted her a few times and then she sent me a private message saying that I could contact Famous and ask them for a goody bag to try out on my Clients and also to blog about. Well, I'm never one to turn down Cosmetics so I dropped Famous a message and they said they would get some products sent out to me.
Yesterday when my Husband brought the post in there was a package for me - this in itself automatically made me happy! I couldn't remember ordering anything on line so, when I opened up the package, I was delighted to find a wonderful selection of goodies from Famous.

The first products that caught my eye were the lipsticks; Lip Addict. I got 2 shades, from totally different ends of the colour scale.

First up is Raw which looks to me to be a "foundation nude" colour. I have only swatched this and haven't actually tried it on my lips so don't know how it will turn out when worn. The next colour I got is Catwalk which is a deep, plum/berry purple/red.

These lipsticks have a little flip up section on top, which has a mirror and a small pot of the colour too.

You can also remove the barrel lid (see images above) to get directly to the colour bullet. Both of these colours glide on smoothly and feel very moisturising. I only swatched these on my hand but they seem to be very long lasting, as they stayed put (albeit a little faded) even after washing my hands.

The next product I looked at was the Nail Addict nail varnishes. The colours look amazing, I especially love "Legend" which looks to be a bright, coral orange colour - it will be perfect for the Summer!

I decided to try out a couple of the shades, and opted for "Day-Dream", a minty turquoise green colour and "Pinked", a bright, almost hot pink.

Both of these colours applied very well and one coat would certainly be sufficient. I, however, do like to apply 2 coats. The only difference this made to the already applied coat was to boost the colour. These are fantastic nail varnishes!

I got sent a couple of Face Compacts; a "No Shine Face Powder" in shade "Saturday Night" and a "First Date Blusher" in shade "Scarlett". The first thing that I notice about these compacts is the leopard print casing! It looks so good and would make a perfect addition to any Make-Up Collection.

Both of these compacts come with a generous sized mirror inside the lid and full pan of product.

I swatched both of these products on my hand using my finger. Usually I find this can cause powder products to seem oily and even go a little "sticky", but these product both applied like velvet. They felt super smooth as I ran my finger around the pan and were totally weightless when applying to the back of my hand.
They both blend nicely, are incredibly buildable and offer a good coverage. I am looking forward to trying these products on my face.

Next up I took a look at the Primer, BB Cream and Bronze Highlighter.
© Gemma Peters - Make-Up Artist 2013 |
I always use a primer before foundation (and sometimes even before BB Cream) so I kinda knew what I was expecting from this product.
The BB cream is very creamy and, as would be expected, feels like it can be used as a glorified tinted moisturiser or as a light/medium coverage foundation.

I didn't really know what to expect from the Bronze Highlighter. I tend to use a powder highlighter and powder bronzer. I know that the cream products can be used if preferred so thought I would at least swatch this with a view to perhaps trying it in a make up look at a later date.
This product says that it is suitable for all skin tones and "will leave your skin with a warm candle lit glow".
I swatched it on the back of my hand and it appeared, to me, to be very orangey. I should imagine that you would only need the tiniest amount of this if you were to use it. I wouldn't say I've written this product off altogether, and will certainly give it a fair trial and use it as is intended before I make my final judgement.

On to one of the products that got me most excited and that is the "High Five Eyeshadow".

These little eye palettes contain 5 perfectly complementary eyeshadows to create amazing eye looks. They have the range of shades going from the "highlight" shade through to the shade(s) that can be used to create a more dramatic, smokey/glamorous look.
Like the face compacts, these eyeshadows are in a leopard print casing - I love them!

The palettes I received were "Feeling Good - cool and sophisticated, shades to leave you looking and feeling like A-List royalty". I already have combinations and ideas floating round my head for this little palette. The other is the classic "Glitzy - showy and gold, nothing compares to that blinging showbiz look. Mmmm glitzy!". It contains the perfect golds ranging from a bright yellow gold, through to the deeper, coppery brown gold. The perfect palette for a classic eye look.
Staying around the eyes, next up were 2 khol eyeliner pencils.

The colours are "Unleashed" which is the classic creamy black and "Smoke Screen" which is a silvery/grey. They both apply nicely and give a good colour payoff without the need of continual lining.

The next product I looked at was the "Into The Shadows", a light reflecting concealer in a reflective silver "pen".

This concealer works by twisting the bottom of the pen which then pushed the product up through the little brush applicator.

It glides on smoothly, is very creamy and blends in beautifully. I'm not sure if I would use is as an under eye concealer (though will certainly give it a go), I would likely use it more as a highlighter, for example, under the brow to add a little more definition.
You can just about see in the photo below how reflective this product is.

The last product that I was lucky enough to receive was the fantastic "Zebra Palette". This product comprises a bronzer, a pressed powder, 3 shades of blush, 16 gorgeous eyeshadow colours, a small blusher brush, a double ended sponge applicator, a double ended eyebrow/eyeliner brush and a mirror all contained in a PVC animal print case.

When you open the case you have a fold out sheet which has a colour guide on it, together with some information about the palette which also has a look to try written in it in a step by step format.

There are 4 colour families in the palette - each of which contains 4 corresponding shades to create a stunning eye look. The families are: neutrals/bronzes, the classic smokey, blues through to a dark purple/blue and the last family is a soft lilac through to the deep plum purple.
This really is a fantastic little palette. It would be ideal to pop in your handbag if, for example, you were heading out straight from work and wanted to jazz your look up a bit but didn't want to take a load of make up with you.

I am thoroughly looking forward to using these products properly and seeing just what they do have to offer when applied. I have a feeling that I won't be disappointed.
If you want to try Famous Cosmetics for yourself, you can buy directly from their website.
Until next time, stay beautiful.
